This photo was titled "picking up a brand new Chevy in Gothenburg".

In the early 20th century my paternal grandparents, Richard Kallman and Lydia Abrahamson, immigrated from Sweden, coming to a new life in Chicago. I've been researching my family for over twenty five years. In this blog I will share the family history, photos, documents and stories that I have collected, along with my memories of growing up Scandinavian-American in Chicago. Welcome to My Swedish-Chicago Heritage!

In the beginning of the fifties Seth worked some years for Skandinaviska Bokförlaget in Stockholm, the Seventhday Adventist publishing house. When the company upgraded to a bigger car, a Chevy was ordered wich then arrived and had to be picked up at the harbour of Gothenburg. Seth was the lucky man chosen to do this.
This was a very great occasion for him. As Östra Frölunda isn't so far off track from Gothemburg to Stockholm, of course he took the chance to visit his fathers house. Isn't it a trace of proudness in his otherwise always humble face when he poses for a photo together with Margareta, Hulda and Gustaf?
