52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - #26 "The American Dream" - Kallman Family

Prompt #26 (Jun 25-Jul 1): "The American Dream" - Kallman Family

"I will build a car for the great multitude'"
You can have it in any color you want, as long as it is black."
               -Henry Ford

It was 1920, still years away from the Great Depression and WWII. My grandparents, Richard and Lydia, sent this postcard home to their family in Sweden. Were they saying "Look folks, how well we are doing in America"?  Maybe, but later years turned out to be much more difficult for Americans with "The America Dream". Not to mention the rest of the free world.

The little blond boy behind my grandfather is my dad Melvin.

From Amy Johnson Crow, a genealogist, far more experienced then I. "The data that we've accumulated in our genealogy software and in our binders and folders doesn't do a whole lot of good just sitting there. We need to do something with it." Each week she sends out a prompt to share a bit about an ancestor, collateral relative, or family friend.
