A younger sister of my paternal grandmother Lydia, was Ester Abrahamsson. She did not immigrate to the U.S. but remained in Sweden where she married and raised four boys. I do not know if my grandmother had been close to her nor if she even kept in contact with her. I never heard her speak of her either but then again Ester was still a young girl when my grandmother came to America. Their lives, no doubt followed very very different paths.
In the early 20th century my paternal grandparents, Richard Kallman and Lydia Abrahamson, immigrated from Sweden, coming to a new life in Chicago. I've been researching my family for over twenty five years. In this blog I will share the family history, photos, documents and stories that I have collected, along with my memories of growing up Scandinavian-American in Chicago. Welcome to My Swedish-Chicago Heritage!
